Held at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, University of Utah, an interdisciplinary symposium to complement the special exhibition "Power Couples: The Pendant Format in Art" (July 11, 2019 - December 8, 2019), which examines ideas imparted by two interdependent works (called pendants) from the fifteenth century until the present day. Papers considered works conceived as pairs in the visual arts, literature, and music. The keynote address was delivered by Wendy Ikemoto, PhD, The New-York Historical Society, and papers were delivered by participants from the following institutions: the Metropolitan Museum of Art; The National Gallery, London; the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences; the Universities of Southern California, Texas, and Utah; Brigham Young University; the American Federation of Arts; and the Rockefeller Estate.
